Lives Unravelled – 7 women artists (from 28-81) collaborating in the struggle to make relevant work. We met while sharing 2 years of study at OVADA, forming a working collective while responding to the exhibition Intrepid Women at the Pitt Rivers Museum 2019.
While believing all humans have the capacity to be intrepid we embrace the vulnerability that is part of the experience of making art and which is clearly part of the human condition, in our city and surrounding countryside. We each have our individual practice - including printmaking, painting, 3D, video, photography, and text. We are committed to a collaboration in terms of our deeply held beliefs and values and a desire to feel accompanied in the struggle to make work that has relevance to the complex world we live in.
Lives Unravelled is an intriguing mix, circling around a central theme taking its inspiration from ‘Uncomfortable Oxford’ walking tours and research we did preparing a response to Intrepid Women.
