Unique arts and crafts in an amazing setting to fire your imagination. With the help of a number of inspiring tutors over the years I have indulged myself in a long standing ambition, since schooldays, to become a wood turner. It took time and the patience of my mentor and good friend Paul Wilcocks at the Bell House Turnery near Dorking, Surrey, world renowned Somerset turner Melvyn Firmager, the incomparable Angus Clyne in Perthshire and instructor Dave Register at West Dean College in Sussex to shape my skills. Today my style is to let the wood shape the outcome and not to loose sight of the natural material which it is. Whether it is a burr or a spalted wood, a hollow form or an open one you can’t make wood do what it doesn’t want to do. Wood turning is a partnership of Turner and material. I hope you like the result.
