Art is a very valuable form of expression for me and I encourage this in my Artitude art workshops which I do in my studio for children (5+), teens and adults weekdays and Saturdays.
I have found incredible satisfaction in translating my love of the natural world onto a monoprinting plate made from gelatin. The soft surface of the gelatin picks up details of leaves and feathers and throughout the process the printing surface builds up a sort of history mimicking a forest floor or the complex textures of a landscape. Using the ink roller as a paint brush on the plate is an effective way of capturing softness and mood and using mulberry paper is also key to my process with its tough fibre for strength, which allows me to apply several layers, and it's thin, delicate texture adding transparency and atmosphere to my pieces.
