Working predominantly with British-grown hardwoods, Bates and Lambourne have been making solid timber furniture for over forty years. We make all kinds of free-standing domestic pieces, from chairs and tables to sideboards and bedroom furniture. We have also worked for many of the colleges of Oxford and Cambridge across a range of projects, from individual items to complete replacement of dining tables and chairs. We make chairs and desk lamps for the shop of the Bodleian Library, and have worked with the Ashmolean Museum on many projects, including building a working replica of William Blake's printing press. We have also worked with many local churches to replace pews and other furniture. Across a wide variety of projects, whether in traditional furniture styles or more contemporary unique work, our focus is always on the detail, durability and quality of the finished pieces, as well as the inherent satisfaction in making.
