I throw using earthenware, stoneware and porcelain to make functional pots: bowls, mugs, and jugs to be used and enjoyed around the home. I use a variety of matt glazes on stoneware/porcelain. Crystals embedded in the earthenware glazes expand during firing to make coloured spots. Each item is unique.
As my potting experience has grown, I am making larger items: fruit bowls, platters.
I love working with clients on commissions to make the item something they really want and particularly like the puzzle of solving whatever technical issues exist to reach the desired object.
I have a small studio at the end of my garden and spend a lot of time there. Some of my bowls use flowers and leaves as the basis of their design.
