Mark Clay

Site Number: 171
Region:
Oxford West (City)
Media:
Drawing, Mixed Media, Photography, Printmaking

This year, Mark Clay exhibits new work in a range of media that draws inspiration from the rapid changes taking place around us. Major building work in Botley and Oxford provide rich opportunities to explore ideas of construction and demolition, development and destruction. Traditional graphite drawings and prints stand alongside mixed media work to explore our city and landscape, using the metaphor of building and buildings to suggest both real and fantastic places, and to capture our historical city in the act of transformation.

This is Mark’s second Artweeks exhibition, which he undertakes alongside continuing study for a Masters degree in Fine Art at Oxford Brookes University. As well as new artwork, Mark will be opening up his new studio space and sharing some aspects of his working practice including sketchbooks and work in progress.
