Clova Stuart-Hamilton

This listing is from the 2019 Festival.

Site Number: 223
Region:
Abingdon- South & Vale
Media:
Painting

The range of media on display in this joint exhibition, shared with a ceramicist, is broad and includes the seductive but rarely used medium of distemper (a combination of warm organic glue and pigment). There are some recent drawings and paintings from the Life Room at the Ruskin School of Art where Clova does occasional tutoring and also attends a class to work from the model. However, most of the paintings are richly hued and textured compositions which fuse the genres of still life and interior. The viewer is drawn in by complex, rhythmic arrangements of patterned textiles, artefacts and musical instruments which mirror the artist's exploration of foreign cultures and life with a family of musicians. www.clova-stuart-hamilton.co.uk
