Susan has had a lifelong interest in art, art history, botany and nature. These interests became a passion when she started painting seven years ago. She now has a home studio within walking distance of the ancient Wittenham Clumps and uses the local landscape and her garden to inspire and inform her work; always seeking new ideas and ways of portraying the landscape and its wealth of fauna and flora. Colour and texture are important factors in her work and she uses a range of mixed media including watercolour, acrylics, oils, inks, oil pastels, gesso, collage and found objects. She used 2017 to develop new skills and studied with some of the painters who have inspired her over the past years, which has led to a slightly new direction in her work; painting is a continuous learning curve! This is her third year exhibiting as part of Oxfordshire Artweeks and for the first time at Earth Trust.
