Clova trained at the Ruskin and the Royal Academy Schools. She has shown extensively in London, including in the Mall Galleries’ NEAC and RBA Annual Exhibitions, and in Oxford, where she has attracted many collectors. Her work has been shown throughout the UK and is present in many collections overseas
Always working from life, Clova’s commitment to drawing and to the intense scrutiny of the subject can be traced back to a rigorous training.
The paintings in oil, gouache, watercolour and distemper probe worlds of unusual and distinctive colour harmonies. Responding to the mood and atmosphere of a subject, they can be muted and subtle, as in the French Interiors and the Flower Compositions or rich and sensuous, as in the Exotic Still lifes and Music Room Interiors.
Clova’s choice of motif, often a fusion of lnterior and Still life, reflects an admiration for Bonnard and Vuillard, a life spent with a family of musicians and a love of travel, architecture and foreign culture.
