A new exhibition along the theme of Renew, Regeneration & Rewilding, opening on 14th September for OXFORD OPEN DOORS
In winter 2023 we received a grant from Westmill Wind and Solar Co-operative (WeSET) to install two destratification fans. These devices return lost heat in the ceiling space back down.
Westmill Sustainable Energy Trust (WeSET) is a registered charity (No.1158820) set up by members of the Westmill Wind Farm Co-operative and the Westmill Solar Co-operative near Watchfield, Oxfordshire. The Westmill Wind Farm Co-op was the first 100% community owned onshore wind farm to be built in the south of England.
WeSET has educational work at its core: The charity supports local energy conservation, renewable energy initiatives, arts projects and facilitates visits to the Westmill Wind Farm and Solar Park. Each year, the charity awards grants to local organisations that share in its co-operative and environmental aims.
We chose the theme RENEW for our 2024 Oxford Open Doors group project in grateful acknowledgment of this financial support, and many of our artists have taken inspiration from a visit to the Westmill site in June for this exhibition.
The location is in a blissfully calm open field setting with skylarks singing, sheep grazing and wildflowers flourishing.
Our members have since made exciting and inspired new work to go on our walls.
Some of the work is more along the broader theme of Renew as in Rewilding and Regeneration.
