University Parks, Oxford. Meet at Parks Cricket Pavilion
Saturday, 7 May 2022
Free, basic materials provided.
South Walk, University Parks
Join artists Emma Coleman-Jones and Francesca Shakespeare for a very informal opportunity to sketch in the University Parks, Oxford, on Saturdays 7th and 14th May. All welcome: adults and children, no experience necessary. Grab a sketchbook and basic drawing materials from us at the Parks Cricket Pavilion (or bring your own) and head out into the Parks to sketch the trees, playing fields, river, pond, human or animal life within this beautiful open space at the heart of the city. Option of having sketches uploaded to an online Artweeks gallery to celebrate the life of the Parks as captured over these two spring weekends. Emma and Francesca's work, created over the course of the year in the Parks, will be on display in the Pavilion as Artweeks venue 26 and will include a selection of Emma's almost daily sketches made here. The artists met whilst drawing in the Parks and were inspired to create this event through their own enjoyment of working outside and through the many conversation had with others whilst out sketching in all seasons, conditions and times of day. Some refreshments available for a small charge with proceeds going to charity. Public toilets in the Parks behind the pavilion. No parking at the venue. Some pay and display parking in nearby streets but limited and expensive. Access is on foot only from the gates on Parks Road, South Parks Road, Norham Gardens and Marston Cycle Path. The Pavilion is at the centre of the Parks. Please respect the Cricket Pitch and other sports areas within the parks and abide by the Parks rules which are published on the noticeboards.
