This new collection explores printmaking and painting along the theme of open spaces vs confinement. It began as a lockdown project as part of my studies at Newlyn School of Art and developed into a theme of the conflicting emotions of the time - the necessity of being shut in and confined whilst craving the expanses of my home county Cornwall and the huge spaces of the moors and coast.
As the project developed, I started experimenting with monoprinting and this, along with many preparatory sketch studies, began to inform some larger paintings of huge moody landscapes and confused land/seascapes - all in a dark palette that represents the ongoing emotional struggles of this time.
The new collection will be pre-released exclusively to my mailing list the week before this Open Studios event, so if you'd like to get first look please visit my website and sign up.
