Clay as a material, together with the excitement of glazing & firing takes me into another head-space. Phoenix studios continues to teach & guide my development but without a doubt, the pandemic turned my hobby into a passion. Being a nurse throughout covid, led me to spend more time focusing on this creativity. Clay is my escape and I set about making & discovering the processes and problem-solving as I built my sculptures. I mainly make items for the garden because they enhance the outlook whilst relaxing.
Having admired wonderful artist for years, I set about learning to do clay sculptures 4 years ago and I was amazed by this material. I found it wonderful and challenging, pitting it's substance against my skill. It won many times. But during the first lockdown I mastered my first large piece which gave me the confidents to go on and experiment. Discovering glazing and using different mediums has made using clay exciting and fulfilling.
