My work is all hand-built and coiled stoneware. It is a slow process that allows plenty of time to explore shapes and textures.
My main interest is in the forms and tactile nature of the clay. I like to suggest bodily shapes, round and pregnant or tall and elegant. Some pieces are functional but they are mostly decorative. I use glaze sparingly but am beginning to experiment with building texture and hints of colour by layering slips, oxides and mostly matte glazes, and often multiple firings.
