I've always had a passion for colour and vibrancy.
Music, dance, theatre, nature, animals, food, home decor, art.
Through the isolation, loneliness, and dullness of 2020 my need and longing for colour and art grew.
Painting became a beautiful outlet, and I discovered a new way of creating.
Beautifully organised and curated little squares. Each with a bright mess of colour and texture.
Stuck deliberately and carefully onto canvas to create one larger, fuller piece.
Mess and mystery.
Overwhelm and order.
Chaos and curation.
I hope that my exhibition will convey this passion for colour, vibrancy, abstract, and movement.
My exhibition will include the pieces currently on my website ( www.violetporterart.com ) as well as new and exclusive pieces that will only be available at the exhibition.
My hope is that every visitor to the exhibition room will be submerged in colour and beauty and will leave with new inspiration and creative energy.
I've always had a passion for art. In particular the use of colour and texture.
It's taken a lot of years of trial and error to come up with a style and format that I truly love and am incredibly proud of. I've tried a lot of different methods and outlets of art over the years and have found joy in each of them in different ways.
But when I stumbled upon the style of painting I now use, it felt so fully right to me. It's expression in a way full of colour and texture. It's full of movement and each time you look at a piece you can see and notice new things about it.
This feels like a representation of humanity. At first glance it may look like a mess. But when you look closer you notice beautiful, ordered chaos. You discover new things each time you look. You see the beauty in the overwhelm.
Creating art has always been an outlet for me, but creating these paintings heightens that experience. I love my pieces and I'm so proud of them.
I'm thrilled to be hosting my first exhibition as part of Oxfordshire Artweeks and I hope to see you soon!
