The above collection is an insight into my personal passion for artistry, in many forms. Back in April 2020, almost a month exactly into the first lockdown, I found myself inspired to create the pencil drawings of my colleagues at Birmingham Royal Ballet, specifically backstage whilst preparing for performances. Sketching the routines of dancers, their unique rituals and how they physicalise the intensities of their work on and off of stage has been a particular motive, allowing me to express the nuances of such a unique career. As well as drawings of dancers, I find myself inspired by nature/music and enjoy using paint and its various techniques to express the boldness of these genres. I hope the above represents a unique insight into what it is to be a professional dancer as well as what has been produced as a result of my broad artistic explorations.
I'm Tori, a professional ballerina with Birmingham Royal Ballet. I've enjoyed many forms of creativity my entire life and use art as a secondary outlet to my dancing. This is my first exhibition, hosted at my dads pub, The Fox and Hounds, in Christmas Common.
