She was born in Mérida, Yucatán, México. She is an Architect with a MA in Environmental Urban Design. She is currently a research student and a Lecturer in the UK. She is at the end of her Mphil/PhD in Urban Design at Oxford Brookes University, currently finishing her writing to submit her PhD thesis very soon. The topic of her research is: Defining and restoring the cultural landscape and place-identity of historic cities: the case of Mérida, Yucatan, Mexico. Her research has been awarded several times in the UK, the last time just before the lockdown.
Isabel has been a Lecturer in higher Education in BA in Architecture and Habitat Design in Mérida. She has combined her professional practice with teaching in México and uses her art in her professional and academic practice. She developed her passion for painting at an early age and started taking drawing classes with Professor Ofelia Erosa Cámara, when she was 8 years old in Mérida. When she was 12, Ofelia also introduced her to learn piano. Later on, she refined her architecture and drawing skills at the Faculty of Architecture in Mérida with Professor Miguel Angel Reyes, Gaspar Segura, Jose Luis Cocom, Alberto Urzaiz, David Alcocer and Jorge Carlos Zoreda Novelo. She learned about watercolours with Professor Felipe Novelo. She paints a wide variety of topics, mostly buildings and people.
