Rosy Burke loves painting and drawing and can frequently be found on the beach portraying her favourite cliffs and seascapes. Sheep and farm animals are another favourite. Lately she has enjoyed working on layering of paint to produce unexpected effects and many ‘happy accidents’. She says “I am never happier than when pushing and pulling paint about and finding unusual colours and abstract shapes and textures in the landscape and helping them shine out”.
In the 2021 lockdown she wrote and self-published her first photo book ‘Compton - from the skies to the seas - a love letter to the landscape’. Written in poetry prose, it has over 140 photos and illustrations which describe this stunning unspoilt place on the Isle of Wight, it’s people and true stories.
Rosy was also a prize winning graphic designer being awarded the first Best Small Business in Banbury in 1996. She worked as a freelance designer and photographer for 40 years. She won the BBC Countryfile Photo Competition Judges Prize in 2005 and then for nine years was a Long Listing Judge of it. She has also photographed many large and small scale projects some of which can be seen on her Youtube Channel.
