I love painting and drawing portraits of people and animals, especially of dogs.
I use oils, acrylics, pastels, charcoal or coloured pencils. Dogs are important in my life, a constant source of enjoyment and inspiration to try to create them in many different ways.
I enjoy making small, beautiful versions of dogs in numerous breeds, known and less well-known, using wool in various forms. The dogs I create in amigurumi crochet are adorable little characters and have expressions which make people smile. The needle-felted dogs and sheep are equally expressive but much smaller and very tactile. Perhaps you will find a lasting reminder of a well-loved pet somewhere amongst my work; something that will make you, or the person to whom you may give it, smile each time you look at it.
I discovered a love of painting and drawing 20 years ago and now use most media. The joy of crafting blossomed in lockdown 2 years ago, inspired by my dogs who were suddenly often my sole companions. From the photos I created other dogs we met on our walks and soon found I had a houseful of miniature versions of the real dogs.
I recently started Hand-Crafted Hounds as I am passionate about creating something small and enchanting - small versions of favourite dogs for people, and now a few favourite sheep have crept in too!
I hope my paintings and craft creations make you smile. Do look at the website and get in touch if you have any questions. I can work from photos and have completed a number of commissions in paint and in wool.
