have painted as a hobby for many years, starting with watercolours and then oils and pastels and now almost excluively with acrylics because they dry fast, they aren't messy or smelly like oils, and the colours are strong. All of these qualities make acrylics very versatile for painting outside, travelling and packing up on painting holidays and for short sessions- for example when (and if) you have a brilliant idea to get down on canvas but don't have much time!

I particularly like painting large landscapes. They often take a long time so that so I develop a strong attachment to them but I can usually be persuaded to part company with them on those rare occasions when I am confronted with an enthusiastic buyer.
