Kulsuma Monica Khatoon is a British Muslim deaf fine artist and illustrator. She is an artist based in Oxford and is a student at Oxford Brookes University graduated with BA Hons in Fine Art. As an undergraduate her work included time-based media, video, photography, painting, mix-media, multidisciplinary mediums, digital art, and documentary.
Kulsumas’ life experience of her disability and how it impacts the mental health is reflected in her work. She explores the barriers and struggles within nature and the world, and how this can influence the human body and mind. In her work there is a sense of subconscious and surrealism. To support Kulsumas’ profound hearing and speech impediment she relies on technology. Her current work looks at how technology is impacting and enhancing modern art.
As Illustrator and artist, I'm currently studying Master Fine Art at Oxford Brookes. Apart from drawing, Kulsuma's biggest passions are travelling and creating her own graphic novels, art business and love watching movies, tv series and gaming. She's hoping that one day she will save up enough to travel around the world and art business will successful.
