I have always been 'arty' but it wasn't until I was presented with an opportunity over 20 years ago to design and make a stained glass window in the Littlemore hospital
that I was able to fulfil that desire to work as an artist. I went on to design and make
windows at the Warneford hospital and the Nuffield Orthopedic Centre in Oxford . I also worked to commission designing and creating windows in private residences.
However circumstances arose whereby I had to shelve this creative way of life….
But now circumstances have turned full circle and I am once again able to jump in and be fulfilled as an artist …...I am happy beyond happy !
During the pandemic I've been quite poorly but when able I've put pen to paper ,brush to canvas and I've drawn and painted 'til the cows come home'! I post regularly on Instagram - my art has been a form of communication beyond my home in a time of isolation during lockdown.
My work is abstract and intuitive . I like to express movement through line and shape. I love it that people interpret my work in many different ways - a springboard for the imagination. I have always been inspired by the lead lines of stained glass and this reflects in the style of my work .
I am now beginning to slowly get back into glasswork - working with stained glass is quite physical and I haven’t been able to do as much as I would have liked …but I look forward to doing more and more each day . I love working with glass with its limitless possibilities - I work in a modern abstract style and am enthusiastic about working to commission again.
I like to work in different mediums -drawing ,painting , glass, ceramics, stone - ( today I have been working with resin… a new departure!) I enjoy the variety and challenges of the different methods and techniques. Art is a wonderful journey with many avenues to explore …
