This is an ecletic mix of imagery and words that meander through time, moments, places and feelings.
A 'heart to heart' conversation between myself and the viewer, reminiscing on mood and atmosphere;
reflecting on detail, mystery and moments of joy. Moving between thoughts and longing for stillness.
Influenced by an unusual 2 years.
The images are as seen through my lens, usually single shots, and using minimal post editing.
Sometimes the viewer will perceive a 'scene' that is not actually there, trying to make sense of the image in front of them.
Sometimes I intentionally mislead.
Each image has a limited edition of 5 prints.
I am exhibiting with 5 other professional artists each exploring different media:-
wood engraving, textiles, drawing and mixed media, painting, and sculpture.
Our art site numbers are 72,73,74,75,76,77 and we are all exhibiting at:
St Michael and All Angels Church
12 to 6pm every day from 7th to 15th May
Since 2000, I have been working as a community photographic artist aswell as exploring my own photographic work and exhibiting in Oxford and Oxfordshire.
Alongside individuals, artists, groups and organisations, I have created and have been involved in many workshops. I have also documented the work of others. It has been a privilege to listen, and help facilitate other people’s ideas and specific experiences.
Unfortunately I sense that those wonderful times, when I collaborated with talented, sensitive community artists and participants, are probably over. The covid pandemic has played its part into that.
So I need to concentrate even more on my personal artistic expression.
I continue to explore ‘perception’ especially from the viewpoint of the individual who faces a different reality. This plays into other themes such as truth, misunderstandings, disorientation, transition, mystery and a longing for stillness in the mind.
I enjoy combining my images with words and poems.
