With a strong hope of more pleasant weather this year, our exhibition once again is at 27 Meadow Prospect. As last year, Neil Butterfield is joining me with his colourful paintings. We are delighted to welcome Vicky Cumming who is a local jeweller with a love of all things coastal.
Work will be exhibited around the house and garden. The sculpture 'shed' is also on site.
Sculpture in clay has been a part of my life since attending a weekend course in 2016. I became hooked! With a long career in the NHS the human body is well known to me and this helped with sculpting the figure. Usually I work from life models with Karin Ort at the Phoenix Studio, Towersey near Thame , Oxfordshire with weekly term-time classes. With studio visits impossible, more stylised human in hard-to-adopt postures started to appeal and the 'Fat Bottomed Ladies' emerged. There is so much to learn and enjoy in the techniques and process - I am still a beginner.
Summer courses at the Art Academy in London with Jessica Wetherly in 2018 & 2019 have given different experiences as well as the Sculpture School. I now have a sculpting 'shed' and can play happily in there. Having been told to 'give up' Art at school - all this creativity is a continual surprise!
