After studying A Level Art and then working in London for various advertising agencies, I didn't pick up a paint brush again until 2008 when I booked onto a mixed media course at Buckingham Art School. Doing this course really pushed me out of my comfort zone and gave me the opportunity to learn a huge amount from my fabulous teacher. In the early days, my paintings were inspired by my children, animals and family holiday scenes.
Based on a working farm, I work in my kitchen which looks out onto the beautiful North Oxfordshire countryside, or outside! Living where I do, I am inspired by my surroundings, whether it be a horse leaving over a fence or a jug of freshly cut flowers. When I've finished a picture it tends to sit in the kitchen for family comments and discussions - an important part of my painting process!
As I mentioned, I have been doing a mixed media course so have had the opportunity to work with all types of medium. My main love is oil and watercolour. In the last year, I have taken to painting on slate coasters, tapas and cheese boards, which have proved very popular.
