'The King' - Acrylic on canvas
I had something else in mind when I started this piece. But then different shapes were forming and after moving the paint around, what I could see first was the shape of a lions nose. I then followed on from this creating a dark, but light impression of the powerful animal. I wanted the eyes to be in colour, representing depth and a sense of realism in the animal.
'Enchanted Glade' - Acrylic and charcoal on canvas.
Inspired by one of my husbands photographs that he took on my birthday during the November lockdown 2020. I created this piece with a little dreamy / heavenly like atmosphere rather than it looking to realistic.
'Lantern Hill' - Acrylic on canvas
The beauty of the North Devon coast, a very popular holiday destination for the British people who love to get to the beach for the summer! This is Lantern Hill, which is situated at the harbour in Ilfracombe. Ilfracombe has some wonderful history, and the chapel on top of the hill is called ‘St Nicholas’ and has been around from the 14th/15th century. Ilfracombe is where I was born and where I spent my childhood.
Hello! I’m Gemma Marlow, an independent artist working from my very own studio in the beautiful location of West Oxfordshire, Carterton.
For more than 15 years I have had the privilege of creating varied artworks from: landscapes, humorous pieces, illustrations for published books, abstract pieces, portraits and more!
I enjoy creating pictures were you can be drawn in which may pose some questions about life and this world that we live in; creating pieces that you and others can enjoy in your home.
This year I have a new series that I will be focussing on which is really exciting! A bit cryptic I know, but I don't want to share anything just yet!
This year I have had the privilege and been selected to exhibit a few pieces of my art work which I am great full for and I am glad to share my art work with you.
