After a couple of years of limited or no exhibition possibilities, I'm looking forward to exhibiting during Artweeks 2022. As in years past I will be showing framed original drawings, all for sale and most of which will be available to order as unframed giclee prints. I will also be selling greeting cards. I'm joining my friend Tam Frishberg who, as a member of the Oxfordshire Craft Guild, is well known for her exquisite and functional stoneware pottery. Plus, next door our friend, Jane Hainsworth will once again be showing her vibrant, aesthetically pleasing jewellery.
During the week I will be working on a new drawing for anyone interested in the process or techniques. And, Tam's ceramics workspace will be open to visitors.
I moved to Oxford from Vancouver in 2001. This move was life-changing in many ways, not least in its being a catalyst to a new and absorbing interest in botanical art. Starting out, I worked with watercolour and gouache, practicing, failing and practicing some more. After a few years of experimenting with paint, I was inspired by some stunning work done in coloured pencil that I saw for the first time at an exhibition of the Society of Botanical Artists. It was moved to change medium from paint to pencil and I've not looked back. Being self-taught, I continue to succeed or fail through trial and error. But, I love using pencil and am pleased with the vibrancy and detail that can be achieved.
I am a fellow member (since 2011) of the SBA.
