Artventures offers term time after school courses in art for children aged 6-12 years. Run by ex-primary school teacher, Liz Mahony, from her home in Chipping Norton, Artventures seeks to redress the diminishing importance of art as a subject in the primary school curriculum. Our flipbook and video presentations showcase the children's work and capture their enjoyment as they explore the realms of expression via different medium. Learning is modular and allows development of an individual`s skills in colour, pattern and shape. Children have worked with chalk, acrylic, watercolour and print to develop a wider awareness of using paint. Drawing ability has been refined through the use of pencil, charcoal and pen/ ink. A source of frequent inspiration is the work of famous artists such as Turner or Monet through which a wider understanding of technique can be examined and appreciated from an individual perspective. In addition, our regular warm-up activity celebrates the legacy of local Chipping Norton artist, Ian Seymour-Wells (RA). 'Seymour Scribbles' serve to encourage dexterity and hand-eye coordination . We are very confident that Ian would have been proud of the results achieved by our young artists and of course, by Monty the Labrador! Please see for yourself - and enjoy!
