My work is profoundly influenced by our diverse and beautiful landscape, quirky harbours and coastal areas of Great Britain. I delight in experimenting with various mediums to create an exciting blend of textures, shapes and vibrant colours within my paintings. I use a combination of gesso, acrylic inks and acrylics for their wonderful versatility, movement and depth of colour. I aim to give my audience the romance & memory of a scene, either real or imagined that evokes a positive or nostalgic memory.
I am looking forward to exhibiting my artwork with a wonderful group of five talented artists and artisans, who will be exhibiting as Art in the Barn at The New Inn pub, Middleton Cheney. The Barn is a fabulous space and there will be a beautiful mix of unique and individual artwork, including some great gift ideas too. The pub will be open during our exhibition, which serves great food. The perfect place to visit with ample parking.
Hi, I'm Anya,
I've always been interested in the Arts, but my professional career started with the completion of a BEd teaching degree with Art and Design. I enjoyed a successful career as a primary school teacher for many years, before going on to pursue my passion and love for art. My first solo exhibition was held at Walton village, in 2005, and I was overwhelmed by the response. This success encouraged me to continue developing my own expressive and individual style and I have enjoyed exhibiting in various galleries throughout the UK, holding regular events and exhibitions throughout the year.
I love beautiful coastal landscapes, quirky harbours and the ever-changing countryside of Great Britain. This is where my true inspiration comes from and my enjoyment of working with various mediums creating an exciting blend of textures, shapes and vibrant colours; whilst continually experimenting with the effects that can be created using gesso, acrylic, acrylic inks and a variety of mark making materials. The resulting depth of colour, movement and versatility that can be achieved using these elements is what I find really exciting. Often, I will imagine a scene and decide how I want certain colours to flow together to create a particular atmosphere. I get enormous pleasure from examining the form, colours, light and textures within our diverse landscape and am continually striving to capture this.
