Working with cotton-textured paper, acrylics and oil-based inks in vibrant hues and colours, Anita illuminates the allure and resilience of seascapes, landscapes and limestone grasslands, whilst reflecting the delicate and increasingly threatened balance in which they exist. Inspired by the ebb and flow of seasons and the sheer force of nature, Anita captures energy in the movement of seas and skies and in the form of plants and trees swaying in the wind, evoking images of dancers, strong yet elegant and graceful. This body of work reveals tensile strength through grace and poise enhanced by Anita’s poetry, which accompanies some of her images, conjuring moments through shifting lights and sounds. Her paintings, prints and poetry are timeless, connecting and engaging with nature and movement creating a sense of brightness and well-being.
It was as a neuroscientist in the 1980’s when Anita saw beauty in a single cell and how intricate structures and functions develop to form unified potential. The richness of colour and diversity then burst through, as she travelled and worked in many countries in South and North America, across Central and Eastern Europe and throughout Asia.
