This collection of paintings and prints shows my magpie approach to the creative arts. Any subject might take my attention, only to be discarded once I have had fun with it. I will try new materials, new techniques, anything from sewing machine drawing to printmaking in ceramics. There is a whole world out there! And this is a tiny corner of it.
I was born in County Durham ( Barnard Castle ! ) and lived in Bedford and Handsworth. I wanted to go to art college, but this was the Swinging Sixties, and my parents wouldn't let me go. Instead I became a teacher, and a wife, and a mother. Drawing and painting just had to fit in where there was a space. But I made sure there always was a space!
I have exhibited in Artweeks for many years, and also with Abingdon Artists. Exhibiting is a good discipline - it focuses you and forces you to finish things, and to take your art seriously.
