The centrepiece of my exhibition is a large garden seating area covered in a floral/water mosaic, created during lockdown in 2020. Other pieces are also predominantly floral, using stained glass and vitreous tiles on one-off household items found in charity shops. Items made to order include house signs, some of which are also on display.
Two years ago I visited several Artweek exhibitions and was hugely inspired by the creative things people were doing in sheds! So I did some mosaic courses with Becky Paton whose enthusiasm and encouragement really helped me, and then I got myself a shed.... This year I’ve been free to experiment and practise; I’ve got a place to study for a diploma at the London School of Mosaics in September, and until then I’ll be happily spending my time playing with glass.
