My online exhibition this year for Oxfordshire Artweeks will be titled 'In my back yard and maybe a bit further afield!'
Being in lockdown for so many months, I have been able to spend time studying the birdlife that visits my garden. On local walks in the surrounding Cotswold countryside I have gathered lots of inspiration from the local farm animals and wildlife and sometimes when I just don't know what to paint I'll drop in a tropical tree frog or a funky Llama!
I am also part of the group Arts in the Cotswolds exhibiting online again this year. We are a group of 7 artists and artisan crafters who came together to put on a show in one of the picturesque villages in Oxfordshire, but had to move online due to Covid-19, we will be working together to show you all of our new work via our Facebook and Instagram accounts, links below, including the linktr.ee link to all of our websites and shops.
I am a professional artist specialising in animal art, a traditional subject, but with a modern, colourful and contemporary spin on my style to create fun portraits. I like to create work that makes you smile! I enjoy painting different breeds of cattle, but welcome the challenge of painting any animal that catches my eye. Living on the boarders of Oxfordshire and Warwickshire there are plenty of farm animals and wildlife right on the doorstep.
A rainbow of bright, bold, striking colours are my core palette, I also like to play with plain and patterned backgrounds and have been known to throw in a monochromatic style in complete contrast to my usually colourful work. I nearly always work on stretched canvases of various sizes from a tiny painting that would fit in the palm of your hand to giant canvases that are taller than me! From my original work, all of which are for sale, I have my paintings professionally scanned to get a true colour matched digital image that I can use to produce prints and some gift ideas.
I love nothing more than being creative in my garden studio. It’s a fab space, it stays cosy and warm in the winter and is glorious to throw the doors open in the spring to hear the birdsong.
