This is my third Artweeks exhibition. As access to life models has not been possible this year there are some more stylised creations.
Joining me 'as usual' are my encouraging and helpful artistic friends with an exhibition of jewellery, paintings and stained glass in addition to my sculptures. We enjoy the 'mix' and it works well. The sculpture 'shed' is also on site.
Our venue has changed to allow for Covid safety measures, hence the name change to 4@27 (in the next street) and is from 8th to 16th May 2021. The exhibition will take place in garden gazebos and an 'open' room (6 bifold doors) . It will be stewarded , limiting numbers to maintain social distancing. Visitors will be asked to wear a mask.
A day learning how to mosaic introduced me to clay modelling sculpture courses at the Phoenix Studio, Towersey, near Thame. Having completed two weekend courses with Karin Ort, I was hooked. Having had a long career in the NHS, the human body is well known to me. Since 2016 I have attended a weekly class with Karin, usually with a life model, where I am continuing to learn and develop. Summer courses at the Art Academy in London with Jessica Wetherly in 2018 and 2019 have given different experiences as well as at The Sculpture School. I now have a sculpting space, 'the shed', and am continuing to enjoy and experiment. Having been told to 'give up' Art at school - all this remains a continual surprise!
