Elizabeth Studdert MRSS was born in Malta of Naval parents. After a Languages degree in St. Andrews University, and marriage in 1959, she taught for 12 years, and then did a Dip. AD in Dyfed College of Art, Carmarthen, followed by post graduate years at City and Guilds Kennington, and Sir John Cass Art Schools. She lived partly in London and Wales, taking part in Welsh exhibitions. From l988 she lived in Surrey, with work shown by Hannah Peschar, in Chertsey Museum, Lightbox Gallery and other local exhibitions in Surrey, London and Hampshire. In 1998 she joined the Surrey Sculptors Society, and in 1999 was elected Associate Member of the Royal British Society of Sculptors, showing her work in their exhibition 2001, and in the City Gallery, Bank in London. 2000-5 Works in Artparks International, Ripon, Newnham Paddox and other Hampshire venues; sculptures have also been exhibited in Chichester Cathedral, at Turn End Haddenham, Greys Court, Spetchley Park Gardens and Kiftsgate Court.
Now based near Bicester she is part of the Oxford Sculptors Group and exhibits with them.
In 2019 a biography was released 'Against The Odds, a life in carving' available on Amazon.
She is a compulsive carver in wood, stone and Alabaster. Her bronze resin works are cast from the carvings. She is interested in tension, a flowing line, balance and is becoming more interested in working towards abstraction.
