Exhibiting with The Abbey Group at St Nicolas Church, Abingdon
Ceramics, Mixed Media and Painting
Local views, beautiful landscapes, mixed media, pen and ink and wonderful ceramics, all in the peaceful and spacious surroundings of St Nicolas Church.
My work is inspired by nature. There will be plenty of cats, rabbits, foxes, guinea pigs and maybe even the odd zebra at this years art weeks exhibition! I have ceramic figurines and plant pots, bowls and knitting bowls, as well as some silver jewellery. I like to work small, so there will also be my angel candle holders (perfect for birthdays in these covid times,) and my ever popular, tiny, daisy vases which are thrown using the same techniques as for a large vase, but are only the size of a 50p piece!

It all started with a pottery cat. I stroked its shape from a hollow ball of clay, so lovely, so relaxing! This pottery cat is what led me from being someone who did a little pottery as a hobby, to running an Etsy shop (ThePotteryCat) and exhibiting at Artweeks!
I am a mum of two, living in Abingdon. My studio is a corner of the garden shed. I have been making ceramics, off and on, at various clubs and classes, since I was a child. I now attending classes at Alison Jones' lovely studio 'The Cobb Studio', East Hendred, Oxon. Alison also, kindly, fires my larger work as my kiln is TINY. My preferred technique is handbuilding, and I love shaping animals and birds from clay.
I have recently been introduced to the amazing silver clay or PMC (thankyou Sally Spencer Jewellery!). Silver clay is a wonderful medium to work with since it handles like clay but fires to pure silver. Silver clay allows me to indulge my passion for making tiny things!
