As well as showing my work virtually throughout the May exhibition, I am pleased to announce that I will now be exhibiting physically at St Mary's Church in Charlbury OX7 3PX from 1st - 9th May, 11am-6pm Mon-Sat, Sun 12-5pm. Other artists exhibiting along side me are Lenore Belcher (painting), Sue Tucker (weaving) and Anita Cooper (printmaking). The Church is a large, bright and airy space with Covid safety precautions in place. Unfortunately there are no facilities available.
Come and view a selection of my latest work. During this last year I have been experimenting more with mixed media and revisiting my love of textures to see what new and exciting mark making I can create. I absolutely love this process of creating art where the unplanned 'happy accidents' lead the way! Various sizes of paintings available to view and purchase along with new prints and hand-painted cards and bookmarks.
Can wait until May?! You can view and buy my latest artworks from my new ETSY SHOP 'Cathryn Jeff Gallery', simply hit the orange link tab on this page above my videos.
I love to create paintings inspired by the stunning Oxfordshire countryside where I live and seascapes from my travels. These are usually enhanced by my vivid imagination. Following A Level I continued to study art at Banbury in Oxfordshire and finally a degree at the Surrey Institute of Art and Design in Farnham, totalling six years of art training and many, many more years experimenting. I enjoy the experimental approach of trying out different mediums including ink, acrylic, oil and watercolour. The application of the paint is an exciting experience for me creating interesting marks such as splashes, dripping, masking, dry brushing, palette knife effects and various textures. Working in a spontaneous manner, I relish in the excitement of the unpredictable nature of the media I combine. In fact ‘happy accidents’ are a fundamental part of my practise and lead to each piece having its own individuality.
I also hold painting workshops and lessons with the view to pass on my enthusiasm and encourage others to have a go and have fun! These are usually held every few months at a local hall to me near Witney, Oxfordshire. During this last year I have had to move my teaching online via Zoom. Please contact me if you are interested in being added to my contact list for dates as soon as they are released. They are very popular and places get booked up fast!
