Exhibition information

Marcus Wattam’s ceramics bring a touch of playful artistry to your home. Embracing the delightful imperfections that arise from the potters wheel, Marcus celebrates the unique character found in each handmade piece. As a potter sharing an antidote to mass-produced homeware, Marcus’s work is driven by a passion for making, failing, and learning with a lump of clay.  He finds joy in the simple contrasts of color and texture, creating cups, bowls, jugs, and vases for everyday use.   For Marcus, coming together over drink and food is the glue in our community, and his pottery reflects this belief. Each creation tells its own story in clay, a testament to the fact that sometimes, the most charming objects are the ones that have a little wobble or a surprising curve. It’s not perfect, but it’s perfectly individual.

Artist information

These pieces are many years in the making.  It is eight years since my daughter said “You should try it”.  Since then my passion has grown and making, failing and learning with a lump of clay at the wheel is my happy place away from the day job.
