A CELEBRATION OF NATURE
As a professional gardener I feel privileged to spend much time outside connecting with the natural world. I love being outside working with plants. I enjoy the beauty I am surrounded by and paint what I see. Through my paintings I hope to offer a glimpse of nature’s magic. I use mostly watercolours and when possible start my paintings with live flowers.  I occasionally use acrylics and chalk pastels. In addition I love using gold dust for some added magic!

This is the first time I am joining Artweeks, and my first time exhibiting. Very exciting and a little daunting. Whilst I have been painting flowers since I started gardening, I am currently working on slightly larger scale and more expressive paintings, moving beyond a precise and detailed image. For Artweeks I aim to show some realistic detailed works as well as some more expressive paintings, conveying the essence and energy of the flowers. I hope you enjoy them!

Artist information

I starting painting later in life, initially to illustrate my first picture book, at the corner of our kitchen table. When I became a professional gardener 12 years ago I started painting flowers, creating cards to sell with my books. After our loft extension a few years ago I now have my own studio which I love. I am surrounded by flowers, dried leaves and feathers. My current book project, tying in with my passion for nature, is a children’s activity book encouraging children to spend more time outside and connect with the natural world. The book is especially aimed at children who don’t have their own garden. I would like to find an organisation interested in working with me so the book can reach children across the UK. If you have any ideas please do contact me 😁
