Come and visit a ceramic studio surrounded by a formal garden and wild flower meadow. All can be found off Queens Lane in the middle of Eynsham.
I am happy to open by private appointment when formally closed.
Exhibition information
The hot lazy days of last summer combined with a drawing class encouraged me to observe in much more depth than previously the beauty and subtle nature of wild flowers, their intricate shapes, shades, twists and hierarchy within a patch of earth. I have been trying to capture these on vases, tiles and cups just using blue and white. A few technical issues remain with firing the slab built vases but I am loving this new development in my work.
Come and enjoy a cup of espresso in my garden which is a mix of wild and formal flower planting. The espresso cups are slip cast with original decoration, lovely to hold and because they have no handles take up little cupboard space.
Artist information
Since a child and digging red clay out of a Shropshire brook, I have always enjoyed creating with mud. However, despite opportunities to dabble with clay I have only in the last twenty years become fully committed and absorbed by its endless potential. My day job was as a Conservator of Art on Paper which demanded precision and patience. I feel that this inclination shows in my work, especially the recent botanical images. I have had some very successful exhibitions as a member of WOA in Bampton and am an organiser of a big artist and makers fair in Summertown, Oxford in the lead up to Christmas. I have lost count with how many years I have done Oxfordshire Art weeks but I am aware that my work has evolved and refined during that time.
I am influenced by what I see around me, especially plants , my whippets and visual stimulus when travelling abroad such as the madagascan tortoise.
