Exhibition information

My work is predominantly landscape, but inc;udes architecture occasionally. I stil love large, open, quiet landscapes (having grown up with them). and aim to capture their solitude, pease and mood – essentially “Spirit of Place”.  Colour matters a lot to me as it plays a dominant part in capturing light and form.  The harmonies and flow in the composition are all for me.

Although I have been faithful to acrylics for a long time, I have more recently migrated to Mixed Media, and thoroughly enjoyed the greater versatility offered by collage and a the varying qualities of other media.

Artist information

Having grown up in Southern Africa and spent time working in the United States, along with plenty of travel, I have seen many types of landscape.  I am a geographer and love looking for formational origins through the shapes of the land – easier in some places than others!  I started painting quite late in life, although looking at art has been a constant passion all my life.. this was created I think by watching my father paint when I was a child. He was an architect and that taught me to look harder at my urban – and later rural – surroundings!
