Exhibition information

I trained as a textile designer many years ago and sometimes incorporate stitch into my semi abstract paintings.  At Art School we were really taught to look and drawing is still the backbone of my practise which I love.  I have lots of sketchbooks ranging in size and shape that I have been working into for about 12 years.  I often refer to them if I want a detail about the shape of a tree, a landscape or just inspiration for a painting.  My work is very much looser now than it used to be and this has been a deliberate direction that I have pushed myself in…..why paint something exactly as it is….that’s what a photograph is for!

Artist information

Because my studio is in the garden I’m able to wander in and do a few hours of painting in between other jobs….walking my little dog, gardening and generally enjoying a well earnt retirement!
