Artist information

Claire Venables is an observational painter working in oils. Her work examines everyday objects and the role they play in influencing and enhancing our human experience, especially how we use them to negotiate times of uncertainty.

By focusing on the abstract shapes created by shadows and the subtle colour shifts across her compositions, Claire creates a delicate stillness that leaves the viewer questioning their own relationships with the things they surround themselves with.

Claire has exhibited with the New English Art Club, the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, Chelsea Art Society, Hampstead Art Society and Oxford Art Society.
