Artist information

I love working in mixed media, found objects and textiles and I often incorporate free machine or hand embroidery somewhere along the line.

I’m fascinated with layers and textures and the way different mediums can be combined, often with surprising results.

I enjoy free machine embroidery and collage and as I never quite know how my work will turn out, I allow it to develop organically.

Most of my pieces are slightly wonky and quirky and I like nothing better than to find or reuse something and turn it into something else. I print many of my own collage papers and textiles and use them to create unique one off pieces.

I am inspired by many things including the natural world and particularly by the juxtaposition of shapes and patterns forming an abstract of the familiar.

I have a particular fondness for gardens and work from my summerhouse studio.

Exhibition information

I relish using media that is lurking around in my summerhouse studio and have set myself a mission to use up all textiles, papers and art supplies that I have acquired through the years!

I spend a lot of time playing around with textures, patterns and shapes and often resort to cutting them up and rearranging them to make into something else.

Most of my collage papers and textiles are unique and hand printed using a variety of methods. I try to combine mixed media and stitch in a lot of my work but also have such a butterfly brain I am always trying out new techniques and media.

I am always experimenting and having a ‘go’ at something new – not always successfully and always slightly wonky! My art is my therapy and it makes me happy.
