Artist information

Helen Savin is a contemporary abstract artist, working mainly in acrylics and other mixed media. She has exhibited in various galleries and venues across the South of England, including Swindon, Bucks, Henley-on-Thames and St Albans.

She was inspired to start painting in 2006 as a way to express her deeper emotions and experience of the world around her, finding her inner voice through the use of vibrant colour. In her paintings, she works mainly intuitively, building up layers and texture and making more focused compositional choices as each piece progresses.

Her aim in making art is to give herself permission to experiment and be playful. She is always seeking to find freedom in expressing deeper parts of herself so that she may touch others and free them also.

Exhibition information

I will be showing a selection of my mixed media abstract paintings and collages on paper, canvas and wood panel.

Many of these will be from my series of paintings completed in 2023 entitled ‘Everything is Connected’. This series came about as a response to coping with the challenges of menopause. I experienced a great deal of challenging symptoms, especially on an emotional and psychological level. Painting really helped me express and process what I was experiencing when it was often difficult to put into words.
