Small Oxfordshire Village combines to make an ‘Art Show of All the Talents’ in the hope of uncovering the new Leonardo or Damien Hurst
In a groundbreaking move in local artistic talent endeavour, the population of the small hamlet of North Aston, south of Deddington, is combining to uncover and bring together the work of every willing artist in the village, and put it on public display for a week.
The Exhibition, entitled ‘The Spirit of North Aston’, will be held in the village Church (St Mary’s) May 10th–18th. Artists have been asked to present their work in any medium, from Oil Painting through to Sculpture, and a considerable number of entries is expected.
Kildare Borrowes, organiser of the Exhibition said:
“We want to see what talent and imagination is out there, and I believe we will uncover an incredible amount of it. Who knows, we may even have a great artist here, and that would be really exciting.
This work is not for sale at the Exhibition and that’s deliberate; we want people to show the world what they have under the hood, enjoy it and be recognised, without commercial constraint. If later they start earning money from their creations, that’s all to the good.
We know that at least 15 people are preparing works for this exhibition. It will be really interesting, fun and stimulating for all involved, and for our visitors.”
The Exhibition is free to all members of the Public, who are very welcome. It is open every day from 12:00 until 18:00 Saturday May 10th to Sunday May 18th inclusive, and from 12:00 until 20:00 on Thursday May 15th.
