Follow the artweeks trail around Botley and Cumnor
This is a trail that you can follow over two separate weeks by starting in Botley during Artweeks City week 12th to 20th May. Start at Habitat behind Seacourt Tower on Botley Road to see the Art Room’s fascinating exhibition of children’s work based on paintings at The Ashmolean Museum plus painted pots and furniture. Then it’s down to Osney Island where at 69 Bridge Street there are bright rag rugs, hand made and chairs from Louise and Bob Summers, and at Oxford Community Church an exciting collection of contemporary sculpture, landscapes and photography. Cross Botley Road to the West Oxford Community Centre to see woc.ART and its display of works from local artists, and finish off with lunch or supper at The Perch Inn, Binsey where you’ll see some lovely paintings by Jenny Quayle.
South week for Artweeks starts on 19th May and a trip to Cumnor will be well worth your while, especially if you drop off at Oxford Sailing Club at Farmoor, where work on display has a nautical theme relating to the reservoir. Local artists are taking over the upstairs rooms at Cumnor Cricket Club to display an eclectic mix of works, and Sarah Bond and Sue Side are showing vibrant studies of nature and portraits in pencil at 1 Abingdon Road.
