Make a date for Artweeks, 3rd to 26th May
The annual Artweeks open studio festival returns to Oxfordshire from 3rd to 26th May 2008 and will be in Kidlington and Oxford City for the week of the 17th. There are many exhibits in the local area during that week and the best way to plan your visit is with an Artweeks Guide, available free from libraries, Tourist Information Centres, museums, galleries, shops and many other public venues. Or visit www.artweeks.org to download the Guide or search for artists by name, location or genre.
In Kidlington there are five artists exhibiting, so set aside a morning or afternoon and take a tour around. At the Library, Kidlington Camera Club is displaying prints from film and digital media from recent club competitions. Michele Field, an artist known for her waterways paintings and vibrant floral canvases will be showing her work at 65 Bicester Road and at 52 Church Street, another painter, Steve Daggitt, is showing oil paintings of landscapes, still life and figures. At Oddington Crossing, Charlton-on-Otmoor, you can enjoy William North’s watercolours of the Otmoor landscape. Check the Artweeks Guide or website for opening times and contact details.
There are lots more Artweeks exhibits and events in the surrounding villages, Oxford city and right across the county. So pick up an Artweeks Guide and get out and about during Artweeks. It’s a wonderful opportunity for the public and artists to come together in a low-key, neighbourly setting and share in the creative activity going on around the county.
