Artweeks returns to Finstock, 10th to 16th May
The annual Artweeks returns to the county from 17th to 26th May and will be in North Oxfordshire the week of the 10th. There are many exhibits in and around Finstock during that week and the best way to plan your visit is with an Artweeks Guide, available from libraries, Tourist Information Centres, museums, galleries, shops and many other public venues. Or visit www.artweeks.org to download the Guide or search for artists by name, location or genre.
Worth a look in Finstock is Anne-Claire Wilton who is showing paintings and drawings inspired by the three years she spent in the USA, where she lived on the Navajo reservation. You can find her at 3 Finstock House, Patch Ridings, Witney Road, Finstock from 12:00-16:00 each day and 16:00-21:00 on the Thursday. Further afield in Stonesfield, there are no less than seven Artweeks exhibits from artists showing a variety of work, including ceramics from Lucy Butterwick, Eastern-themed paintings from Kerry Burniston and Athanasia Mavroudi and children’s work from Stonesfield Primary School.
There are lots more exhibits and events in the surrounding villages, Oxford city and right across the county. So pick up a guide and get out and about during Artweeks. It’s a wonderful opportunity for the public and artists to come together in a low-key, neighbourly setting and share in the creative activity going on there.
