Sarah B Smith

I graduated from Oxford Cherwell Valley College in 2007 after studying Graphic Design & Illustration. In 2005 I was short listed for the Student Awards at the V & A with her series of Nightingale & the Rose images.
I am member of the Associate Artists Alumni group which gives me the access to use printing facilities at Oxford Cherwell Valley College. Most of my work has been with print, from screen print, dry point to etching plates, these all inspire me. I enjoys the processes of print from etching a Copper plate or Perspex to screen printing or woodcuts.

I thoroughly enjoy experimenting with different materials and techniques; I find that it creates a fountain of bursting ideas and themes which I collaboratively use to create a piece of work. Much of my creativity often involves adopting various approaches, providing the opportunity to explore new dimension to my work. I often find that the most rewarding part is the surprise I feel when a piece of work finally comes together; this is often unexpected but extremely gratifying. It seems, it’s all been worth it.
